My Wedding Day Prep!

My Wedding Day Prep!

Hey friends!!! I am so excited to be marrying my best friend next month… It has literally snuck up on me… It doesn’t seem like I’ve already been engaged almost a year, but in about 30 days, I will be Mrs. Karmatz! I have been doing some serious prepping, so that my skin, hair, nails and body are picture and wedding dress ready! I have been switching between doing Insanity Max 30 and my own Interval workouts for my workouts and as far as nutrition, I’ve cut my dining out and processed sugars in half!!!! I’ve been eating a more Paleo style of diet.. But not 100% – it just works for my lifestyle and I am celiac and hypothyroid, so it definitely helps. Plus following the 21 Day Fix portion control meal guide, I am golden!!! I’ve gone from eating every 2-3 hours to now doing Interval Fasting… So I eat the same amount of calories a day, but they are in 3 bigger meals and 1 snack.. I go about 6 hours between eating! This has started changing my body composition drastically! I didn’t realize this is how my body would react, because everything I have learned over the past couple of years tells me to stay away from that! But it’s working, so I’m sticking with it!! Between those workouts and my eating style — I’ve lost fat and started leaning out more!!! Plus I’m feeling great! As for my face… Monthly hydro facials and dermaplaning is a MUST! Plus getting my eyebrows sculpted and trained to grow a certain way (yes I had to let them just grow for a couple of months so I could get them shaped just right.) The skincare line and products I’m using is Lytera. And I LOVE IT! My skin feels so clean and bright! And I’m not breaking out or have dry skin anymore. It’s medical grade.. So it’s good stuff! I do the facials & dermaplane so that my skin will be smooth and even for my makeup application. Another thing I have started.. Well, stopped doing, is wearing makeup everyday! I might apply makeup once a week now and it’s very light and I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use a makeup remover at night, along with my Lytera face wash! I don’t want any cystic acne bumps or marks on my face anytime before the big day! My my hair is faux mermaid red, so it’s a MUST that I take care and preserve my color! I only wash my hair 3x a week, with cold water and Kevin Murphy shampoo and conditioner. I also only blowdry 1x per week and have slowed down on the curling iron and never really straighten my hair anymore. Plus I use a leave in conditioner on the ends! I want soft, silky, manageable hair on the big day! My nails and skin...

My Resentment Towards Food

Posted by on Sep 21, 2013 in Exercise, Krystal, Nutrition

I feel like I have to confess, but I think others can relate… Over the past 6 months I have had the most negative concept of food, again. About 11 years ago is when it came to surface but I have had issues since 1997. I started working out and eating healthy about 4 years ago – lost over 50 pounds and felt amazing! In December 2011 I started feeling AWFUL. Hair falling out, super irritable/moody, dry skin, sleepy all of the time, headaches, feeling like I am losing my mind, insomnia, crazy cravings (especially sweets, which isnt like me), weight gain, etc.. And no matter how I worked out or ate clean – nothing was helping! I soon found out I had severe auto-immune hypothyroid disease, Celiacs disease and severe anemia due to the Celiacs and not being able to absorb any nutrients. I was in complete SHOCK! I have taken care of myself for so long and then my body starts to reject itself basically. I recently learned my cortisol levels are out of wack and other things are starting to happen. I feel like even when I eat a completely GF diet, I am still having “gluten belly”-like symptoms, my skin is itchy, no energy, hair is falling out again and dry and I am not ME!!! Even after upping my dose of meds every 3 months since being diagnosed – not only taking T3, but also T4 meds – Tirosent and Cytomel, I am not back to normal Krystal. In all honesty, I feel like a bandaid has been put on my body and the ROOT cause of my issues are not being addressed. My levels are fine – T3, T4, pituitary and my iron might be a little low, but not enough to cause these symptoms… So I am thinking it has to be something else and the only way I know how to diagnose myself is through food! But my issue IS food! I have gained 15+ pounds and again, no matter how much I workout and eat clean, I continue to GAIN! I continue to feel like crap and it’s overflowing into other areas of my life. I feel like every time I eat a cheat meal I gain weight and I DO! I am getting to the point where I might be consuming 1100-1300 calories a day, not nearly enough, and it is just because I view food as the “devil” basically. This is not healthy and actually harmful. Food is good. Food is fuel. Food nourishes your body and heals itself. Food is a necessity – just not over-processed, GMO injected, crappy “food”. What I put into my body should never give me a negative concept! Over the past week I have taken the time to actually start researching different diets and how to get back to the basics! I...

Hypothyroidism Update

Posted by on Jun 16, 2012 in Exercise, Krystal

I haven’t posted lately about my thyroid issues just because I haven’t been too clear what is going on – but this past week I had a few doctors appointments, some that went really well and some that went not so well – but regardless I am alive and breathing! 😉 As you may know, or not, I was diagnosed with several things about 6 months ago – it was all so much to take in at one time, but it answered many questions I was having about my health, my day to day schedule and just the way I felt. Thank goodness we found out that one of my issues was that my Thyroid levels were extremely low and was able to get a grasp on it. At first I was put on a low dose of Synthroid and every 2 months I have had to have my dosage upped because I just wasn’t stabling out, but not only that I have several polyps on my thyroid. This past week I had another ultrasound on my thyroid and unfortunately one of my polyps or cysts grew by the slightest amount and it looked like I had 1 more show up – my endocrinologist didn’t seem too concerned, but I will have another u/s in 2 months and see where we are at. He also took me off of Synthroid and put me on 2 different types of Thyroid medicine – one for my T3 and one for T4. My thyroid levels just keep getting worse. The new meds are called Cytomel and Tirosint and I must take them twice a day everyday. I have a new schedule of waking up a 6am and taking 2 pills and then repeating the process at 2pm and not eating within 1 hour of taking them. I eat every 2 hours basically, so now I have to carefully plan my meals every single day to make sure I keep my metabolism going and not skipping any meals! I was telling my doctor that I was concerned because workouts I would do 9 months ago I would burn 1000 calories in an hour and now I can do that same exact workout and maybe burn 600 in an hour – its concerning and I have noticed myself gain a little weight off and on – but my eating habits were basically the same. He assured me its because my thyroid levels are so unstable, going up and down that my metabolism is definitely not where it should be for someone as active as I am – he told me to wait about 2-3 weeks and with this new schedule of taking my meds and on a better eating schedule I will start seeing a significant difference in my mood, energy and metabolism – THANK GOODNESS!!! I should also not be so “foggy headed” (I...

Shakeology is TOO Expensive

Shakeology is TOO Expensive

If you think Shakeology is too expensive you need to read this!!!! That’s thinking from the perspective of what most think a meal replacement shake is or more appropriately what they see a protein shake as. The kind of thing you can get at a discount store or grocery store that costs $19.95 or maybe the premium one that costs $30 or $40. When Beachbody created Shakeology Carl Daikeler made a oath that he would not mess with formulation that had science, that had quality, that was whole-food formulated, that was not processed so it could sit on the the shelf for 5 years. Shakeology is like fresh food in it’s most conveniently delivered form. Beachbody wants to share Shakeology with other people but that comes at a price. Frankly, Shakeology should cost $160 if Beachbody was making the same kind of margins that other network marketing companies were making. Selling to grocery stores Shakeology would probably cost between $160 and $200 just based on margins. Carl Daikeler was not happy with that so the cost went down to $120 or $90 to coaches. Shakeology is not just some bag of powder that has some protein in it surrounded by fillers and artificial colors. Some people are simply comparing it to the wrong thing. Look at what $4 buys you at a fast food chain or starbucks, you will barely get anything for $4 let alone a full healthy meal. All the fat, the gluten, the junk that you put in your body cost way more than $4. Stop eating every meal just to satisfy your tongue so your stomach feels full. A bag of chips, a soda or whatever. Stop thinking that way about every single meal. Make one meal an investment in your health! Shakeology is a bargain and it’s unbelievable how good it is for you. People have lost 120 lbs, 150 lbs, 190 lbs. Many people have got off medications and it has also helped those suffering from eating disorders. Shakeology is doing so many good things for people and it only cost $4 a serving. I could go to starbucks, blow over $4 and get amp’d up on caffeine with some creamer, whip-cream on top any day of the week but I’d rather pay $4 per serving for a scoop of life… My Shakeology 😉   Share...

Lost 5.4 Pounds in 3 days!!!!!

Posted by on Oct 9, 2010 in Krystal

Yes – that is the result of my Shakeology 3-day Cleanse!!! WOW!!! So, on day 1 (Wednesday) I had so much energy, I taught my TurboKick classes and didnt even notice I was on a cleanse the first day! I wasnt hurrying thru my salad that evening or anything – it was like any other day! I drank my shakes, drank tons of water, drank my green tea and had my salad with 4oz of tilapia for dinner! Day 2 (Thursday) I woke up a little hungry, but just like every morning I made my Shakeology – I did gulp it down! I also had my green tea for breakfast and lunch! By the time dinner came around I was feeling the hunger pains and had a slight headache..but I kept busy that day by SHOPPING and playing outside with my kids! But when my girls had their lunch – ahhhh – it was torture! I had to eat a piece of fruit with my Shakeology! So when I did eat my salad with chicken for dinner – I was more than ready for it! Day 3 (Friday) – Yesterday basically felt like the first day!!! I had tons of energy and felt like I could keep going! I kept myself busy all day and I really think that helps because I was not able to think about if I was hungry and what I was hungry for… I did notice my stomach growling during lunch time…and craving more than just a Shakeology – but after I made my daughters their lunch and drank my shake, I went right back to being busy! Last night I had the BEST salad with grilled chicken…I kept drinking tons of water and that helped a lot, but honestly it wasnt as difficult as I thought it was going to be on the last day! Today I put on my skinny jeans and wore them with confidence!!! I didnt feel like I had extra bloating or “muffin tops” – I felt great! This morning I made my Shakeology, but this time I added a 1/2 package of Maple and Brown Sugar instant oatmeal, 2 tablespoons of SF/FF Cheesecake Pudding mix, 1 cup of water, 1 cup of Almond Milk, 1 tsp of peanut butter – ice and blended!!! SOOOOOOOOO Good! If you are interested in doing the Shakeology 3-Day Cleanse – here is the info & directions: The Shakeology 3-day cleanse is an innovative way to use Shakeology as a cleanse. It’s very simple to follow. To start with it is like no other cleanse out there today. One of the things that makes it so different from other “cleanses”, is in fact that the Shakeology 3 Day Cleanse is a “performance” cleanse – its like a toothbrush for your insides!! This is because it is designed to be done along with a workout/fitness program. The 3 day cleanse is...
