My Wedding Day Prep!

My Wedding Day Prep!

Hey friends!!! I am so excited to be marrying my best friend next month… It has literally snuck up on me… It doesn’t seem like I’ve already been engaged almost a year, but in about 30 days, I will be Mrs. Karmatz! I have been doing some serious prepping, so that my skin, hair, nails and body are picture and wedding dress ready! I have been switching between doing Insanity Max 30 and my own Interval workouts for my workouts and as far as nutrition, I’ve cut my dining out and processed sugars in half!!!! I’ve been eating a more Paleo style of diet.. But not 100% – it just works for my lifestyle and I am celiac and hypothyroid, so it definitely helps. Plus following the 21 Day Fix portion control meal guide, I am golden!!! I’ve gone from eating every 2-3 hours to now doing Interval Fasting… So I eat the same amount of calories a day, but they are in 3 bigger meals and 1 snack.. I go about 6 hours between eating! This has started changing my body composition drastically! I didn’t realize this is how my body would react, because everything I have learned over the past couple of years tells me to stay away from that! But it’s working, so I’m sticking with it!! Between those workouts and my eating style — I’ve lost fat and started leaning out more!!! Plus I’m feeling great! As for my face… Monthly hydro facials and dermaplaning is a MUST! Plus getting my eyebrows sculpted and trained to grow a certain way (yes I had to let them just grow for a couple of months so I could get them shaped just right.) The skincare line and products I’m using is Lytera. And I LOVE IT! My skin feels so clean and bright! And I’m not breaking out or have dry skin anymore. It’s medical grade.. So it’s good stuff! I do the facials & dermaplane so that my skin will be smooth and even for my makeup application. Another thing I have started.. Well, stopped doing, is wearing makeup everyday! I might apply makeup once a week now and it’s very light and I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use a makeup remover at night, along with my Lytera face wash! I don’t want any cystic acne bumps or marks on my face anytime before the big day! My my hair is faux mermaid red, so it’s a MUST that I take care and preserve my color! I only wash my hair 3x a week, with cold water and Kevin Murphy shampoo and conditioner. I also only blowdry 1x per week and have slowed down on the curling iron and never really straighten my hair anymore. Plus I use a leave in conditioner on the ends! I want soft, silky, manageable hair on the big day! My nails and skin...

I’m a FEATURE!

Posted by on May 30, 2014 in BeachBody, Exercise, Krystal

So excited to be the feature Inspiration Story for Food Mood Girl‘s blog!!! —> you can click here to see it, or just read below! 😉 Can you tell our readers a little bit about yourself?  My name is Krystal Bland and I am a mom of two beautiful little girls – Karsyn and Kady, engaged to my best friend Stu and we live in Austin, TX. We love to travel. Snowboarding and planting my bum on the beach are always at the top of my lists, but anything outdoors I am totally into. i have always been a very driven person, whether it was in sports or achieving in my job, but after having 2 kids, I completely lost myself in being a mom, working a dead end full-time job and just having no goals or any clue where I wanted to go in my life. I was content with just doing the daily grind (I feel like a lot of mom’s go through that sometimes). After going through my fitness journey I have found a whole new passion in life. I have goals, I love helping people see their own potential in life, I quit my dead end job and now I have the opportunity to work from home owning my own fitness business. I now stay home with my kids and fiance and I get to be fully present in their life. THAT makes me happy! At what point in your life did you decide to make a change to better your health?  Fitness and nutrition was never an important aspect in my life, but after having my second daughter, I was fed up with how I looked, I was depressed and almost a hermit. Going into a dressing room was like the “walk of doom” and I just prayed that whatever was in my hand was going to fit. Sitting at a solid size 14/16 and weighing 180 pounds, I was ready for change, on the inside and out. i think it was 2am, probably eating ice cream or chips, and I was watching this infomercial and I finally decided to order my first every workout program. That day has forever changed my life. No more diet pills or crazy crash diets, just straight up sweat and working out. Since I started doing TurboFire, I have now lost 60 pounds, educated myself on what nutrition is really all about and I have found a passion for helping others realize that exercise and eating healthy is not a bad thing. What does being healthy mean to you? For me being healthy means I am living an active, balanced, mentally positive life. This doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy my cake too…it just means I know how to eat in moderation without depriving myself of any of my favorites. Mental health is just as important – I am...

How Do I Eat Healthy?!

Posted by on Jul 16, 2013 in BeachBody, Exercise, Krystal

It’s not rocket science, but it IS a process… When I first started my weight loss journey I had no clue what to eat, what not to eat, when to eat, how often I should eat, etc… I was a blank canvas with no experience. I thought buying those frozen Lean Cuisine meals would give me the results or drinking the Hollywood Diet Shake or switching from regular sugar to stevia would make all the difference in the world – WRONG! For me eating healthy was a LONG process and a lot of trial and error. It didn’t happen overnight and it took patience. Once I realized that I needed to look at food as fuel and not something I just want, my whole outlook on what I should be eating changed. I didnt like veggies unless they were covered in butter or fried – same with fruit, I needed them covered in more sugar than they already have in them…it’s how I grew up. Did you grow up hearing your parents say “you are not leaving this dinner table until your plate is finished.”???? Yep, thats what I grew up with – so mentally I always thought I needed to finish every bit of my plate, even if that meant stuffing myself. I am also a Texas girl who loves her meat and potatoes (and I dont mean cooked a healthy way). So I had to LEARN how to eat healthy, right from the bottom and also learn to moderate my cheat meals. This is something common I see and an ugly road I have been down: First, you try to cut out everything you love, you take out all your treats and cheats and quit cold-turkey – but then you crave and want everything you cant have, so you run to the store and binge eat – awful feeling, right?! My steps to changing my eating habits started like this: Cut back on eating out to 1-2x per week Replace one item a week in my pantry and refrigerator for something more healthy and nutritious Sign up for MyFitnessPal.com and track my food daily and KNOW how many calories I am supposed to be consuming No snacking while making dinner and lunches for kids Switching from canned veggies to frozen or fresh READ LABELS Drink more water (if you dont like water add fruit or Crystal Light or Mio on occasion) Meal planning Shopping with a grocery list (stick to outside perimeter of the grocery store) Learning what I should eat before and after my workouts Replacing 1 meal a day with Shakeology!!! Buying organic Cutting back on alcohol This is a glance at what I have done over the past 2 years to lose weight and feel amazing on the inside. Just because you can eat 1500 calories a day, doesnt mean it should be of CRAP..bc...

Vegan, Vegetarian, Raw Citrus Kale Salad

Have you ever been to Whole Foods and eaten their Citrus Kale Salad? OMGOSH if you have, you KNOW it is the BOMB DOT COM! I recently played around in the kitchen and made my OWN version of this Kale salad – me and my kids are in love! RAW Kale Salad w/ Cranberries, Pine Nuts & Lemony Vinaigrette Serves: 4-6 Prep Time:  30 Minutes (7 Item Recipe) Naturally RAW, Vegan & Vegetarian Ingredients: 1 Bunch Organic  Kale 1/4 Cp. Organic Dried Cranberries 1/4 Cp. Unsalted slivered Almonds 1/4 Cp. Organic (unsalted) Pine Nuts 1/4 Cp. Organic Lemon Juice  (I used 3 lemons) 1/4 Cp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil About 10-15 Cherry Tomatoes or 1 large Roma Tomato Himalayan Salt & Fresh Ground Pepper to taste DIRECTIONS: Wash and dry your Kale. Next, I just tear apart my Kale, throwing out the center part or “ribs” – As you can see I had my helpers in the kitchen today! Then just throw it in a big salad bowl. Next, wash your tomatoes and slice them up and throw them in the salad bowl. Next top with Cranberries and unsalted Pine Nuts and Almonds.  If you do not have these you can also use most other nuts like walnuts, pecans, or raw unsalted sunflower seeds. Take extra virgin olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper and whisk until well blended. Depending on your taste you may want to add more or less lemon, oil or salt and pepper. Add it to your liking.  Dress salad pouring dressing evenly over it.  Toss so that dressing evenly distributes and coats kale well. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.  Toss again and enjoy! Note: If you are making this salad for two or one you can simply cut the recipe down into 1/4′s to make a smaller amount with ease. This super salad is packed with rich antioxidants and great nutrition loaded with good stuff for the whole family. ______________________________________________________________________________ Shopping List for Fast & Delicious:  Cranberry Kale Salad w/ Pine Nuts & Lemony Vinaigrette RAW Organic Lacinato Kale (1 Bunch) Roma Tomato – Medium Size (1) Organic Dried (unsulphured) Cranberries (1/4 cp.)
