My Wedding Day Prep!

My Wedding Day Prep!

Hey friends!!! I am so excited to be marrying my best friend next month… It has literally snuck up on me… It doesn’t seem like I’ve already been engaged almost a year, but in about 30 days, I will be Mrs. Karmatz! I have been doing some serious prepping, so that my skin, hair, nails and body are picture and wedding dress ready! I have been switching between doing Insanity Max 30 and my own Interval workouts for my workouts and as far as nutrition, I’ve cut my dining out and processed sugars in half!!!! I’ve been eating a more Paleo style of diet.. But not 100% – it just works for my lifestyle and I am celiac and hypothyroid, so it definitely helps. Plus following the 21 Day Fix portion control meal guide, I am golden!!! I’ve gone from eating every 2-3 hours to now doing Interval Fasting… So I eat the same amount of calories a day, but they are in 3 bigger meals and 1 snack.. I go about 6 hours between eating! This has started changing my body composition drastically! I didn’t realize this is how my body would react, because everything I have learned over the past couple of years tells me to stay away from that! But it’s working, so I’m sticking with it!! Between those workouts and my eating style — I’ve lost fat and started leaning out more!!! Plus I’m feeling great! As for my face… Monthly hydro facials and dermaplaning is a MUST! Plus getting my eyebrows sculpted and trained to grow a certain way (yes I had to let them just grow for a couple of months so I could get them shaped just right.) The skincare line and products I’m using is Lytera. And I LOVE IT! My skin feels so clean and bright! And I’m not breaking out or have dry skin anymore. It’s medical grade.. So it’s good stuff! I do the facials & dermaplane so that my skin will be smooth and even for my makeup application. Another thing I have started.. Well, stopped doing, is wearing makeup everyday! I might apply makeup once a week now and it’s very light and I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use a makeup remover at night, along with my Lytera face wash! I don’t want any cystic acne bumps or marks on my face anytime before the big day! My my hair is faux mermaid red, so it’s a MUST that I take care and preserve my color! I only wash my hair 3x a week, with cold water and Kevin Murphy shampoo and conditioner. I also only blowdry 1x per week and have slowed down on the curling iron and never really straighten my hair anymore. Plus I use a leave in conditioner on the ends! I want soft, silky, manageable hair on the big day! My nails and skin...

Hypothyroid SUCKS!

Posted by on Aug 1, 2014 in Exercise, Krystal

But for real.. it does! It doesn’t matter how positive you can be — having mood swings, hormones going insane (not always the good way), adrenal issues, dry/flakey skin, hair falling out, hot sweats and then freezing to the bone, weight gain, bloating, constantly tired, no energy, etc etc… IT SUCKS! Ok, so now that I got my bitching out of the way… let’s discuss.. LISTEN to your body! When you are having crazy things happening and you don’t FEEL yourself, take a moment to journal it. Because of me always thinking I was losing my mind and I could NEVER remember anything, I had to start journaling what was happening on a daily/weekly basis. I would list my symptoms and what I was doing at the time — this way I could just hand it over to my doctor and they would know  exactly what was going on, not what I was trying to remember… PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE. But seriously, if you’re medicated with Armour or Symthroid, you are not going to feel better in a day, you might not even feel normal within a month… it all depends on when you were diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and how long you have been medicated and what dosages you have. When I was first diagnosed almost 3 years ago I was only put on 10mcg of synthroid… I am now taking both T3 and T4 – Tirosent, 100mcg and Cytomel, 5mcg 2x daily! It took me up until about a year ago to grasp onto what I had and how to take care of myself due to this disease. About 7 months ago was when I started getting the weight gain under control and being able to drop what I had gained SINCE being diagnosed and medicated. I gained abut 15 pounds AFTER being diagnosed and starting my meds… Since then I have lost about 20 pounds, totaling 60 pounds since I started my journey. SELF CHECK – Does your blood work match up to your activity level. What does that mean? I am constantly being asked “Krystal, my blood work says I am fine, but I am still feeling like crap” — Understandable, sometimes your blood work isn’t a direct reflection of whats really going on — but take a self-check FIRST before complaining to your doctor! Your medication IS NOT A WEIGHT LOSS PILL!! Let me scream that again — YOUR MEDICATION IS NOT A WEIGHT LOSS PILL. Your medication is to help you not have much more damaging and severe complications in the future! Do your part at home before you take your issues to your doctor. Are you really working out to help with your energy and stamina? Are you really eating a well-balanced 80% healthy diet? Are you really taking your medication at the same time daily at least 1 hour BEFORE you eat anything? Those...

10 Steps to a NEW YOU!

10 Steps to a NEW YOU!

Whew, sorry for being MIA the past couple of weeks – between moving and vacationing with my fiancé, I have been a busy lady! I have to start by saying.. It’s a beautiful thing when you first see the scale drop when you have hypothyroid or adrenal issues. You know it can be a roller coaster of emotions and even a roller coaster of gaining/losing weight.. but when you lose a pound, keep it off and then lose another 3 — THATS a beautiful thing! I am not going to sugar coat it, losing weight is not always the easiest and keeping it off can be a bit difficult — but once you get a system, do your research and really understand what your body is doing and what your body is telling you — thats when it becomes easier and a way of life. I dont workout and eat healthy to be “skinny” — I do it bc I want to feel great and my doctor will bitch at me otherwise! So I might as well do my part. Your mentality is KEY! You have a disease. You have a hard time losing weight. You feel tired. Your moody. Your slow. You might have low or no sex drive. You don’t want to get out of bed in the morning. I get it.. I understand. Throw yourself a pity party for 5 minutes and then get your ass up and do something about it! Its not going to change itself. DECIDE. Decide right now you’re not going to let this consume you. Regardless if you have been diagnosed or you just have the symptoms — YOU are capable of overcoming the setbacks. It’s Sunday – your planning day. The day to reevaluate how you are going to run your week and NOT let the week run you! If you haven’t already calculate how many calories a day you should be consuming! If you are eating too little, you are slowing your metabolism even more than what it is. You body thinks its starving so it will store body fat! I like using www.FreeDieting.com and then use the calculator to figure out your daily caloric intake. You should get 3 numbers, never use the last number, its almost always too little and you should never be eating less than 1200 cals a day anyway. Find a method of tracking your food. I like www.MyFitnessPal.com – its free and has a database of most foods and their nutrient value stored. Even restaurant foods. You will be surprised what you see! There is an app for your phone as well. I don’t suggest using the calorie calculator they provide, only bc it is not super accurate. And Remember – “if you bite, you write it” — anything you consume, even a bite, goes into the journal. Make a grocery list. I...

Whoa!!! Where Have I Been?

Posted by on Jul 15, 2013 in BeachBody, Exercise, Krystal, Nutrition

I know – it’s been FAR TOO LONG since my last post (slacker status), I promise to start blogging again every week!!!! So, update on me! Many of you guys know I was diagnosed with hypothyroid disease, severe anemia and celiacs disease all within a week of one another last year – talk about a brutal shock!!! Fast forward to July 0f this year…I have had my meds upped every 2 months and now I am taking both T4 and T3 meds – Tirosent and Cytomel. On top of that I learned about 6 weeks ago I am borderline diabetic, so I am also taking Metformin and supplementing with extra B12 daily! I feel like a medicine cabinet! My weight has been super fluctuating for about 7 months, which is frustrating…I had to put some of my 4’s away (that I worked so hard to fit into) to now pulling out the size 6’s. I know this seems ridiculous to some people, but I am an EX-fat girl, topping out at 180 pounds at one point in my life, so seeing the scale and inches crawl back up again has been quite disappointing! Ive gone from about 123 pounds  to about 137 and it’s not been easy to get it off! I think back in March I actually saw 140 for a few days after I returned home from Disney World – talk about wanting to run off a cliff..or at least around a track a few million times!!!! This weight gain can’t all be blamed on my thyroid and not being able to regulate it…I have not been as consistent with my eating clean and workouts – but mainly it’s been my nutrition. I got in the habit of eating out almost 4-5x a week..tisk tisk. But for the past month I have been working on cleaning up my diet, juicing, drinking my daily Shakeology and working out at least 4x a week. I started Focus T25 about 3 weeks ago, it’s Shaun T’s new workout and I am absolutely in love with it. It’s only 25 minutes a day and a mini/condensed, less intense Insanity workout! I get a HUGE calorie burn in just 25 minutes!!!! I already feel and see a difference in my stamina and how my clothes are fitting…REALLY looking forward to when the next 8 weeks are over! Not only am I doing this program daily, but I have 30+ women joining in and working out with me as well thru my private online fitness group. It is definitely giving me the accountability I need to stay motivated thru my workout everyday! So…Here’s to a healthier, fitter and more motivated ME for the rest of the year and there on out!!!! <3 – Krys Share...
